(Minneapolis, MN) -- 4-16-13-- Minnesota star catcher Joe Mauer went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and three runs batted in as the Twins took care of the visiting Angels 8-2 last night in Minneapolis. Trevor Plouffe (PLOOF) also hit a solo shot for Minnesota, which ended a five-game losing streak. More....

Pominville leads Wild past Flames

(Calgary, Alberta) -- 4-16-13-- Wild forward Jason Pominville scored a pair of goals to lead Minnesota to a 4-3 win over the Flames last night in Alberta. Mikko Koivu (MEE-koh KOY-voo) and Pierre-Marc Bouchard (boo-SHARD) each had a goal for the Wild. Minnesota snapped a three-game losing streak with Niklas Backstrom making 20 saves. More....

Jazz dance past Wolves by 16

(Minneapolis, MN) -- 4-16-13-- Utah power forward Al Jefferson posted 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Jazz to a 96-80 rout of the Timberwolves in Minnesota last night. Lynx draft picks, Minneapolis native goes 4th in WNBA draft

(Bristol, CT) -- 4-16-13-- The Minnesota Lynx selected Nebraska point guard Lindsey Moore with the 12th overall pick in last night's WNBA Draft. The Lynx drafted guards Sugar Rodgers and Chucky Jeffrey in the second round and center Waltiea Rolle in the third round. Baylor's Brittney Griner was the top overall selection and went to Phoenix. Scott becomes first Aussie to win The Masters

(Augusta, GA) -- 4-15-13-- Adam Scott is the 2013 Masters champion. Scott made a 12-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to beat Angel Cabrera for his first major victory on a rainy Sunday at Augusta National. Cabrera's 18-foot birdie try curled around the hole before the 32-year-old Australian made his putt for the win. More...

Twins rained out Sunday, start series with Halos tonight

(MInneapolis, MN)-- 4-15-13-- Yesterday's scheduled Twins - Mets game was rained out. Minnesota had dropped the first two games of the series and five games in-a-row overall to fall to 4-and-7. The game will be made up on Monday, August 19th at 1:10 p.m. at Target Field. The Twins host the Angels tonight with Kevin Correia taking the hill opposite Joe Blanton. More....

Wild in Calgary

(Calgary, Alberta) -- 4-15-13-- The Wild begin a three-game road trip tonight against the Flames. Minnesota has dropped three in-a-row to fall to 22-16-and-3. The Wild hold the seventh spot in the Western Conference playoff picture with 47 points after a shootout loss to Columbus at The X on Saturday night. Calgary is 16-21-and-4. Faceoff tonight at 8pm. Wolves host Jazz

(Minneapolis, MN) -- 4-15-13-- The Timberwolves have a chance to play spoiler tonight when they host the Jazz. A Minnesota win would eliminate Utah from the playoff picture in the Western Conference. The two teams met on Friday with the Jazz coming away with a 107-100 win. The T'Wolves rebounded with 105-93 victory against the Suns on Saturday to move to 30-and-50. More....

Gopher Nine beat N'Western, give coach 500th Big Ten win

(Evanston, IL) -- 4-15-13-- Long-time Golden Gopher baseball coach John Anderson added a benchmark win to his historic career yesterday. Minnesota beat Northwestern 7-1 in Evanston, handing Anderson his 500th career Big Ten Conference victory. The win also pushed the Golden Gophers into a tie for first place with Michigan in the Big Ten with a 7-and-2 conference record. More....

Kyle Busch dominates in Texas

(Fort Worth, TX) -- 4-15-13-- Kyle Busch dominated from the pole to win Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway. It was Busch's 26th Sprint Cup victory in his 300th start. Martin Truex Jr. came in second and Carl Edwards finished third. He was followed by Greg Biffle while Joey Logano completed the top-five. The series heads to Kansas next week. (MNN)

 
Gophers take on Illinois in Big Ten Tournament

 The Minnesota Golden Gophers get the Big Ten
Tournament under way this morning against Illinois in Chicago. The Gophers
lost their final two games of the regular season to finish ninth in the Big
Ten at 8-and-10. They were 20-and-11 overall. The Illini earned the eighth
seed after a 21-and-11 and 8-and-10 campaign. The two teams split their
regular season matchups with the road team MORE... 
Twins fall to Orioles despite big rally in 8th

 The Twins had a big rally against the Baltimore
Orioles on Wednesday but in the end it wasn't enough. Second baseman Ray
Olmedo clobbered a home run to right in the bottom of the 8th to complete a
rally to put the Twins on top of Baltimore 4-3, but the 9th inning saw the
Orioles account for six straight runs and beat Minnesota 9-4. Kevin Correia
gave up two runs, one earned, in 4 MORE... 
Love still out for at least another 2 to 3 weeks

-- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love had a
follow-up appointment for his broken right hand on Wednesday in New York with
Dr. Michelle Carlson of the Hospital of Special Surgery. It was determined
that his right hand is healing properly and he will continue to increase his
conditioning program but won't be re-evaluated again for another two to three
weeks keeping him on the MORE...
