I started working at Lakeland Broadcasting the first of September 1995 when I began as the sports director, just doing morning sportscasts and play by play. Two years later started hosting the midday show on KWLM and joined the Q102 morning show as cohost spring of 2001. I began my broadcast career in Devils Lake, ND as a staff announcer in late summer 1986. From there went to Gillette, WY where I had a great time as the sports director for almost five years. Also worked in radio in Palestine and Temple, TX. From there went to Aberdeen, SD and Ottumwa, Iowa for short terms of service. It was a long and winding road to get to Willmar! Six different jobs in nine years, now in Willmar for the last 13 plus.
I was born in Devils Lake and many relatives still there. Moved with family to Plymouth, MN in 1971, moved to Bloomington in 1980 where I graduated from Kennedy H.S. in '83. My sister Stacey, lives in suburban Detroit, MI. She has three children, two daughters (Paige and Nikki) and a son (Chase). Her husband Tim works for Kroger Foods Corp as a zone manager in charge of 23 stores. My Mom Connie Klecker spends her winters in AZ and summers in Menahga, MN with her husband Jack. My Dad, Bob lives in Elk River.
I was captain of baseball team my senior year where I was a right handed pitcher. We lost to Edina in section champioship and finished 15-7 for the season my senior year. I went on to pitch amatuer baseball for six more years after high school, three years with Edina, one with Bloomington and two in Devils Lake. Career record 20 wins and nine losses with an era of about 3.50. When I moved to Wyoming they didn't have amatuer baseball so I started playing softball, retired from that years ago, too many nagging injuries. Started playing golf somewhat seriously when I moved to Willmar, a couple years ago sported a handicap of 7, not that low now due to lack of play the last couple years.
Bought a house this past summer in Pleasant View subdivision so it looks like I'm here to stay!
