Probation, No Jail Time For Father In Drowning Death Of Daughter
(Minneapolis, MN) -- Probation but no jail time for a Minnetrista father who was driving drunk last January when the family SUV went through thin ice on Lake Minnetonka, drowning his infant daughter. Jonathan Markle pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide today (WED) and was sentenced to 57 months in prison -- but that sentence will be stayed as long as he doesn't break conditions of his probation for five years. Markle, his wife and their two-year-old daughter were able to escape after the S-U-V broke through the ice on Gray's Bay, but eight-month-old Tabitha had to be rescued by firefighters and died a short time later. Prosecutors say Markle's blood alcohol level was point-one-three two hours after the mishap.
