Domestic Violence Continues To Be Big Problem In Minnesota
-- The case of Mandy Matula is the most recent in a string of high-profile domestic violence-related deaths in Minnesota this year. To date, 37 people have been killed by their significant other, compared to 18 last year. Liz Richards with the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women says in 2012 over 62-thousand Minnesotans reached out for services from domestic violence programs -- but only one in five people who experience domestic violence ever seek such help. A hiker discovered Matula's remains in a shallow grave Saturday in Stearns County. She was last seen six months ago with her ex-boyfriend, who later shot himself in the parking lot of the police station before he could be questioned on Matula's disappearance.
