Flu Arrives In Minnesota, But Not Officially
(St. Paul, MN) -- Influenza has arrived in Minnesota but state health officials are not ready to call it flu season yet. The Department of Health's Kris Ehresmann (AIRZ'-man) says the state is no longer reporting the first laboratory-confirmed case of the fall. She says when they start to see an uptick in flu activity from schools, long-term care facilities and doctor offices, that's a better description of flu season beginning. Ehresmann adds their lab monitors flu activity year-round in Minnesota and would not report a case in June. She says that there is an abundant supply of flu vaccine in the state.
