Suicide Rate Increases Among Older Minnesotans
(Undated) -- Minnesota's suicide rate is the highest in over a decade. While the youth suicide rate is stable, it's increasing among male adults in particular -- and older Minnesotans are taking their lives more often. Melissa Heinen (HI'-nen) with the state Health Department says if you have a mother, a grandparent, an uncle or other older relative, pick up the phone and connect with them. She says it will make that person not feel so socially isolated. Heinen says if you have concerns about someone, don't wait until they're at a crisis point to get help.
