(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Twins used a five-run eighth inning to beat the Tigers 8-2 this afternoon, winning their season-opening series at Target Field. Josh Willingham hit a two-run homer to tie the game and Trevor Plouffe (PLOOF) hammered in the go-ahead solo shot in the fifth. Minnesota broke it open in the eighth with an R-B-I single by Chris Parmelee (PAR'-muh-lee), a two-run double by Pedro Florimon (FLOR'-ih-moan) and a two-run single from Aaron Hicks. Starter Mike Pelfrey went five innings to earn his first victory in a Twins uniform. Minnesota travels to Baltimore Friday afternoon for a three-game weekend series with the Orioles.
