The time has come again to "Jam the Gym" for the Tim Orth Foundation in Bird Island. Saturday will be the two all star boys' and girls' basketball games, along with all the top-notch entertainment for the whole family. Organizer Bill Neubauer of Bird Island says there will also be a silent auction with more than 100 items, many of them sports-related, vacations, Lasik eye surgery, there's a raffle, concessions and t-shirt sales. The doors at the Bird Island School Gym open at 4, opening ceremony at 545 and tipoff for the first all star high school game is at 6, but interspersed throughout the evening will be different skits and entertainment acts. Neubauer says the all-star teams are made up of kids chosen by their home team coaches, and often times these young athletes put on a show by themselves. he event is a fundraiser for the Tim Orth Foundation...Orth was a BOLD High School star athlete who died after suffering from a brain tumour. Neubauer decided to put on the event to help Orth's family, and other families, with medical expenses. This year the event is helping 17 area kids and their families, and past recipients will be on hand during the opening ceremonies. Again, Jam the Gym Night for the Tim Orth Foundation, at the Bird Island School Gym, doors open at 4, game time at 6. Bid on auction items, buy a raffle ticket and have a great time. (KWLM)
