State Lawmakers Considering Alcohol Tax Increase

(St. Paul, MN) -- You could be paying more for your St. Patrick's Day drinks next year if state lawmakers pass a bill this session that would raise taxes on alcohol. It would amount to about a dime a drink. Eric Finneman, owner of Nick's Discount Liquor in St. Cloud, says tax increases could change consumer behavior. Finneman says people will probably drink a little bit less and buy a cheaper product. Revenue from the tax increase would go to treatment programs, drug courts and other support programs.
