(Willmar, MN)--3-7-13-- The Willmar Cardinal boys basketball team had a score to settle, not just with Hutchinson whom they had lost to the first game of the year, but with the regular season in general. The Cardinals were ranked #5 by Minnesota Basketball News in their preseason ranking of Class AAA teams, but wound up the regular season sub .500 at 12-13 so they played with a big 'ol chip on their shoulder in their Section 2AAA Quaretrfinal rout of Hutchinson 78-51.
It was the second most points the Cardinals posted in a game this year and would have been the most except they called off the dogs with several minutes yet to play. Kyler Johnson led the Cards with 23 points including 3 three pointers. As a team the Cards hit 6 of 11 three point shots for the game and nearly 50% from the floor. Austin rambow made several smooth turnaround jumpers on his way to 16 points and "Lightning" Joe Leueze (LIGHT zee) hit three triples and finished with 15.
