(St.Paul, MN) -- Scammers posing as the Minnesota Department of Revenue are using state tax refunds as bait to get bank information from taxpayers. Assistant Commissioner Terri Steenblock says the state Revenue Department would never call taxpayers and tell them they need more information in order to give a larger tax refund. Steenblock says they would either send a paper check to the taxpayer, or an official letter with specific tax and contact information. Victims of the scam can go to the Department of Revenue website and click on the "report fraud" link.
