Hy-Vee Recalls Some Dog Food

(West Des Moines, IA)  --  Pet owners should be aware of a manufacturer recall of some types of Hy-Vee dog food.  Random testing by the Iowa Agriculture Department found higher-than-normal levels of a chemical contaminant called alflatoxin (ALF'-luh-toxin) that's been linked to liver damage.  Affected by the recall are certain bags of Hy-Vee Complete Dog/Complete Nutrition, and Hy-Vee Complete Dog - Bites, Bones and Squares.  People with the product should return or discard it immediately.  Doctors at BluePearl Veterinary Partners advise, if your pet has been receiving one of these products and isn't acting right, take them to your family vet as soon as possible.
