Officials with RC Hospital and Clinics will soon be holding meetings in the area to get input from the public on building a new facility. Hospital Board Vice-Chair Bob Ehlers says even though it would cost slightly more to build a new facility rather than remodel the current one, in the long run it would be worth it. Ehlers says building new would go faster, and cause less turmoil and lost business. The oldest part of the current hospital and clinic in Olivia is 63-year-old. The hospital board decided in December to pursue the new-build versus the remodel option, and met with the Renville County Board to get their input. Ehlers says the next step is to hear from the public. Ehlers says they would be able to pay for the new hospital through hospital revenues, financed through the USDA, and it would not be a financial burden to Renville County taxpayers. Preliminary plans show a 16,000 square foot, 16 bed facility with a price tag of about 24 million dollars. Right now the hospital is operating without a CEO after Glenn Haugo was placed on administrative leave in January for performance and day-to-day operation issues and are not criminal in nature.
