Rosemount Man Gets 60 Days For Fatal Hit-Run

(Apple Valley, MN)  --  A Rosemount man will spend 60 days in jail for leaving the scene of a fatal accident almost four years ago.  Forty-four-year-old Eric Hunter pleaded guilty in the March 2009 hit-and-run death of 26-year-old Joan LeVasseur (luh-vass-ur) of Apple Valley.  The judged stayed a 13-month prison sentence as long as Hunter doesn't violate his probation over the next three years.  Prosecutors say he struck LeVasseur as she crossed a controlled intersection against a red light in the dark.  She died in the hospital a week later.  The case initially went to trial in October of 2010 but the judge declared a hung jury.
