-- A group of concerned citizens has joined together to launch the Minnesota Hay Bank. The Minnesota Horse Welfare Coalition says the goal is to help horse owners keep their animals well-fed and healthy during winter. The bank's opening comes on the heels of a Fillmore County man being charged with animal cruelty after investigators found nearly 60 starving horses on his farm. A private donor and the Minnesota Humane Society have already deposited three-thousand dollars into the Hay Bank. The coalition hopes to raise an additional seven-thousand dollars by the end of the month.
