(St. Paul, MN) -- "Horrific act," says Governor Dayton about this morning's school shootings in Connecticut and says "deepest condolences of Minnesotans go to the parents and families of the victims." The governor says "this dastardly, cold-blooded murder of innocent children and their educators by a deranged individual shocks Minnesotans." Dayton has ordered all flags at state and federal buildings fly at half-staff from today through next Tuesday at sunset.
Meanwhile, the anti-gun-violence group Protect Minnesota has a rally tonight (6pm) at a south Minneapolis park. Organizers ask, when will politicians commit to doing something to keep guns out of the wrong hands?
And Education Minnesota teachers union President Tom Dooher (DOO-er) is asking Minnesota school districts to review their crisis plans in light of the Connecticut tragedy. Dooher says Minnesota parents should also take extra time to talk with their children about what happened.
