?(Grand Rapids, MN) -- A Minnesota Department of Corrections officer accused of having sex with an inmate at the state correctional facility in Togo is jailed on 50-thousand dollars bail. Fifty-six-year-old James Bongaarts of Tower made his first court appearance today (Mon) on criminal sexual conduct charges. Prosecutors allege that Bongaarts engaged in multiple acts with a female inmate over the last two months. The criminal complaint says Bongaarts admitted to having consensual sex with the woman several times. His next court appearance is in mid-January (1/14 10am).
