(St. Paul, MN) -- Democrats in the Minnesota Senate this afternoon (Thurs) chose Senator Tom Bakk as their new majority leader after grabbing control of that chamber from Republicans in Tuesday's election. Bakk, who's from Cook in Minnesota's Arrowhead, has been minority leader after Democrats lost the majority two years ago and now takes over the top spot in the state Senate. Democrats in the Minnesota House meet tonight (7pm) at the Capitol to choose a new speaker after also winning a majority of seats in Tuesday's election. Their pick will likely be current minority leader Paul Thissen from Minneapolis. Meanwhile Republicans, ousted from control in both the Minnesota Senate and House, choose their new minority leaders tomorrow (Fri) and Saturday.
