Minnesota Has 8th Meningitis Case Linked To Contaminated Steroid
(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota has its eighth case of fungal meningitis linked to contaminated steroids, a man in his 60's from the Twin Cities. Assistant State Epidemiologist, Doctor Richard Danila (duh-NILL-uh), says the Health Department just found out about the case today, but the patient was diagnosed about two weeks ago. Danila says he's not sure why the delay but the man is now receiving treatment. Health Department officials say they don't have information on his condition. Nationwide 24 deaths have been linked to contaminated steroids produced by New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts.
