Former Gov. Carlson In Ad Opposing Voter Photo-ID Amendment
(St. Paul, MN) -- The latest T-V ad from opponents of the voter photo I-D constitutional amendment features former Governor Arne Carlson. The moderate Republican warns the cost to implement voter photo I-D will exceed 100-million dollars, adding to a budget deficit that's already expected to be over four billion dollars. Carlson is urging Minnesotans to vote "no" on the amendment, send it back and make the legislature fix it. Backers of the constitutional amendment are not immediately reachable for comment. Carlson and Representative Mary Kiffmeyer -- the former Secretary of State who authored the amendment in the House -- face off during this weekend's installment of "Minnesota Matters" on Minnesota News Network.
