(Undated) -- A new report finds youth of color have significantly different outcomes in Minnesota's juvenile justice system than their white counterparts -- but *why* that's happening is unclear. Dana Swayze (DAY-nuh SWAY-zee) with the Office of Justice Programs says youths of color are three times more likely than white youths to be arrested and in other cases youths of color are less likely to receive probation than white youths. But researchers say the causes of those disparities are complex and could be due to poverty, procedures in the juvenile justice system, or policies that unintentionally disadvantage youth of color.
