Gophers Idle

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  University of Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill says quarterback MarQueis Gray was not able to practice with the team at all this week because of the high ankle sprain the signal-caller suffered in last month's Western Michigan game.  That likely means his back-up Max Shortell will make his third consecutive start when the Golden Gophers host Northwestern for homecoming a week from today.  Minnesota is off this weekend, which Kill says is a good thing.  Northwestern plays at Penn State this afternoon.
