Deputy St.Louis Co. Medical Examiner Killed in Wyoming Plane Crash

(Duluth, MN) --  A celebratory hunting trip to Wyoming turned fatal for a Duluth man Friday.  Seventy-nine-year-old Doctor Donald Kundel, a longtime Duluth pathologist and deputy St. Louis County medical examiner, was flying to Wyoming to see his son when his single-engine homebuilt plane crashed at the Laramie airport.  Reports say Kundel had just been declared cancer-free following a battle with bowel cancer and was traveling out west to celebrate by going bird hunting with his son.  Kundel had been cleared to land when the crash happened.  Witnesses on the ground say they heard the engine stop.  An investigation continues.
