(Hastings, MN) -- A Northfield woman has been sentenced to a year in jail and ten years' probation for not getting medical care for her 17-month-old son after her former husband physically abused him. The infant, Nicholas Miller, later died and his stepfather, Tylar Hokanson, was convicted of first-degree murder. Experts testified the child could have survived his injuries if his mother, 21-year-old Melissa Ohmann, had taken him to the emergency room. Ohman pleaded guilty in March to second-degree manslaughter.
