Carleton College in Northfield remains among the best national liberal arts colleges with a number 8 ranking. Macalester College in Saint Paul is ranked 24. University of Minnesota Morris is ranked number-8 among *public* liberal arts colleges in the nation. Among *regional* universities in the Midwest, Hamline (9th), Saint Catherine (14) and Bethel (24) are all in the top 25. And Northwestern in Roseville (16) is in the top 25 regional colleges in the Midwest. As for *public* regional universities, U-M-D is ranked 7th and Winona State 15th. Among public *colleges* in the Midwest, U-of-M Crookston ranks second. In the Big Ten category, U-of-M Twin Cities is ranked 68 among national universities, but number 5 in chemical engineering and M-I-S, and 17th in undergraduate business programs.
