8-27-12 (Minneapolis, MN)  --  University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler (KAY'-lur) will be welcoming first-year students to dormitories tonight on the East Bank (Mon 6-8pm). Thousands of freshmen and their parents will be moving belongings into residence halls and apartments today through Wednesday.  A record 87 percent or nearly 48-hundred freshmen will live on the Twin Cities campus this year.  Classes begin next Tuesday at the U of M.
