State Patrol identifies the victims of the Highway 12 crash



8-18-12     Three people were killed and two were injured in a drunk-driving related crash just east of Willmar Friday night.    It happened around 9 p.m.   The state patrol says a mini-van driven by 68-year-old Marta Stoffers of Atwater was eastbound and collided head-on with a westbound pickup.   After the collision the van went into the ditch and burned.   Stoffers was killed, as well as her daughter, 40-year-old Michelle Hoffman of Eden Prairie.   Hoffman's daughter, 8-year-old Julia, and son, 5-year-old Jason, were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where Julia died.   Jason is in critical condition.   The driver of the pickup was 21-year-old Paul Wickenhauser of Norwood.   He was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, treated for minor injuries, and is now in the Kandiyohi County Jail in Willmar.   The state patrol says alcohol was detected in his system.   The collision occured between Willmar and Kandiyohi near County Road 127.
