State Rep Investigated For Allegedly Having Oral Sex With Boy
8-16-12 (Duluth, MN) -- The State Patrol and Duluth police investigated State Representative Kerry Gauthier for allegedly having oral sex with a 17-year-old boy at a Duluth rest stop in July. The St. Louis County Attorney's office has decided not to pursue charges against the first-term Democrat. Police records indicate Gauthier told investigators he met the boy after putting an ad on Craigslist and that the boy told him he was 18. Gauthier told the Duluth News Tribune, quote, "I think it's a private matter and I don't need to talk about it." He was admitted to a Duluth hospital Wednesday, reportedly with breathing problems. State Republican Party Chairman Pat Shortridge says Gauthier's absence from today's legislative hearing on flood relief, quote, "raises serious doubts about his ability to continue holding public office." House Democratic Minority Leader Paul Thissen says his immediate concern is for Gauthier's health and he has not spoken with him.
