8-13-12  --  Sometimes staying the same isn't all bad -- given Minnesota's drought situation.  The updated U-S Drought Monitor shows no change in the past week when it comes to the state's soil moisture content.  There's still extreme drought in far southwestern Minnesota, around Luverne and in a small portion of Nobles County.  Severe drought extends across about a third of southern Minnesota and in the northwest from the Moorhead area up to northern Beltrami County.  In all, about half the state is drier than normal.
