Officials Shut Down Illegal Gambling Operation In St. Cloud
8-9-12 (St. Cloud, MN) -- An illegal gambling operation was shut down today (Thurs) in Saint Cloud. Officers executed a search warrant at Triple Crown Sweepstakes where illegal gambling devices, similar to video slot machines, were confiscated during the raid. Department of Public Safety spokesman Doug Neville says agents told the business before they opened that they believed it would be illegal gambling, but they went ahead and opened anyway. The case is being referred to the county attorney's office for possible criminal charges. The state received a citizen complaint in June that Triple Crown was planning on opening. At that time the business owners claimed to be raising money for a charitable gambling organization.
