Whooping Cough

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  About 40 new cases of whooping cough are being diagnosed every day in Minnesota and officials are trying to stop it from spreading further.  Epidemiologist Brad Crier says whooping cough is especially dangerous for infants because their lungs are not fully developed and they must fight for breath.  In adults, whooping cough can last four to six weeks or longer.  But since germs are spread to others with every cough, those infected should see a doctor as soon as possible for antibiotics to clear it up.
