MCROC ready to hold listening session to help community

8-3-12     The University of Minnesota wants to put on a listening session to find out what the area wants and needs from the new Mid-Central Outreach and Research Center on the Minnwest Technology Campus in Willmar.  Robert Jones is Senior Vice President for Academic Administration for the University of Minnesota System.   Jones says the MCROC is a model of how the U will work with communities and deal with regional challenges.   This region is heavily involved in animal agriculture, especially poultry.   Jones says Avian research expert Dr. Carol Cardona operates a laboratory in the MCROC.  Jones says MCROC also provides area students going to Ridgewater College, St. Cloud State or the U of M Morris the opportunity to intern with area businesses that will use the facility.    In January the regional Minnesota Extension Service Offices moved into the cottage, and Jones says they are, essentially, the building managers.  (KWLM)
