Chances Not Good For State Flood Assistance For Homeowners

7-26-12 (St. Paul, MN)  --  Following FEMA's denial of individual assistance for homeowners and businesses in flood-stricken northeastern Minnesota, it's possible the state might not provide any grants either.  Senate Republican Majority Leader Dave Senjem says due to precedent it's difficult politically and from a cost perspective.  Senjem notes that while Winona, Stockton and Rushford were granted individual assistance when severe floods hit in recent years, Pine Island, Oronoco, Zumbro Falls and Hammond did not get that same help.  Senjem says it's difficult to change the rules in mid-stream.
