Darin Mastroianni belted a solo homer and Joe Mauer had three hits and scored the winning run for Minnesota, which improved to just 3-and-5 since the break. Casey Fien picked up his first career win while Glen Perkins locked down his fifth save. Yuniesky Betancourt doubled in the lone run in the seventh for the Royals, who have dropped five-of-six. Jonathan Broxton fell to 1-and-2 with the loss.
