DNR Announces Wolf Season Rules

7-12-12 (St. Paul, MN)  --  The D-N-R has finalized rules for Minnesota's first wolf hunting and trapping season with a target harvest of 400 animals.  The agency's Steve Merchant says the season will be split into two parts.  The early wolf season will start November 3rd, which is also the opening day of the firearms deer season.  The late wolf season begins November 24th.  Merchant says the wolf hunt will be divided into three zones -- east central, northeast, and northwest.  A total of six-thousand licenses will be offered, 36-hundred for the early season and 24-hundred for the late.  Licenses will be awarded by lottery.
