B-B-B: Beware Craigslist Property Scams
6-11-12 -- Officials are reminding consumers to be aware of potential Craigslist scams. The latest one revolves around fake rental properties. The Minnesota Better Business Bureau's Dan Hendrickson says people will be looking for an apartment or a house online, they'll see an ad with a great picture and rates to match and think they're getting quite a deal. But unfortunately, in those cases, scammers have copied the photos off the internet or from legitimate ads and created their own fake ad in an attempt to entice people into either providing a deposit or a first month's rent. Hendrickson recommends seeing the properties in person before making any down payments. He adds if the offer seems too good to be true, it almost always is.
