6-8-12  --  A debt collection scam is hitting Minnesotans and others throughout the nation.  The Better Business Bureau's Dan Hendrickson says people are getting calls from those who claim to be collections agents, threatening them with arrest if they don't make an immediate payment over the phone.  Hendrickson says thousands have received the fake calls and scammers have collected about five-million dollars from victims throughout the country.  Hendrickson notes legitimate debt collectors do not make those types of calls.
