5-29-12 (Washington, DC) -- Hibbing native Bob Dylan was among a diverse group receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the White House this afternoon. The medal is the nation's highest civilian honor. President Obama said of Dylan, "There is not a bigger giant in the history of American music. All these years later, he's still chasing that sound, still searching for a little bit of truth." The president added that he's a "really big fan" of Dylan. Among others honored with the Medal of Freedom today: former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, Astronaut John Glenn, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Israeli President Shimon Peres.
