5-29-12 (Cambridge, MN) -- The Isanti County Sheriff's Office is investigating thefts of bronze star grave markers from two cemeteries in the area. Thieves have stolen between 50 and 75 markers from the graves of veterans since late April. Sergeant Chris Caulk says nothing is sacred anymore when people are stealing from deceased Minnesotans who served their country. Investigators hope a recycling center will receive some of the bronze markers and notify law enforcement. Officials believe thieves are stealing the markers so they can get money for the metal.
