Woman Acquitted In Child Care Murder Case

6-12 15 (Center City, MN)  --  A jury has acquitted a 43-year-old Chisago County woman who was accused of killing an infant at her unlicensed home day care last year.  The Star Tribune reports jurors took less than three hours find Salli Schultz of North Chisago Lakes *not* guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of eight-month-old Brooke Kowarsch of Lindstrom.  Defense attorney Earl Gray says it was a rush to judgment by prosecutors and the medical examiner to conclude the child's death was homicide.  Prosecutors alleged a traumatic brain injury but Gray says the defense "established quite convincingly that the child died of natural causes."  The lead prosecutor was not immediately available for comment.
