Is anyone really surprised the Vikings finally had to admit they will be playing in The Dome for at least another year? If you are and thought for sure they would be out of here after this season then you've been missing some of the signs from the NFL that they want the Vikings to stay right where they are.
During Super Bowl week commissioner Roger Goodell talked about expansion for Los Angeles, not relocation. It has also come to light there is a $200 million "grant" available for teams trying to get stadium deals done. They really call it a loan, but to pay it back the NFL forgives other payments teams have to make to the league, so it's a grant.
Besides there are other far less viable cities with teams looking to move the NFL would choose to go to LA before the Vikings. Buffalo is already playing two "home" games a year in Toronto. Jacksonville and Oakland are also more likely to take LA. Oakland in the running with Al Davis' passing. His son would be willing to give up a share of the team to the LA stadium builders, they have stated that has to be part of the deal. St. Louis has also been mentioned. All are smaller and less enthusiastic about their teams than Minnesota and Vikings fans.
Also is anyone really shocked the Wild have tanked? They trade their best player in the off season, Brent Burns, and bring in Devin Setoguchi who's been traded twice yet is only 25 and Dany Heatley who is also a journeyman despite having some talent. What was it about these guys that other teams felt they would be better off without them? I guess we're finding out, they and other Wild players don't go hard when they get behind.
The Wolves are inconsistent, who would have thunk it!? They are the second youngest team in the league with a talented but raw group that had a shortened training camp and very few in-season practices to get on the same page due to the compressed schedule. They are fun to watch but those who were guzzling too much of the Rubio Kool-Aid and thought they might make the playoffs this year are now asking "What the heck is wrong?" Nothing, they are young and learning how to play and win in the NBA, what a shocker! Not
