Super Bowl and High School Hoops

For several years now I have just enjoyed watching the Super Bowl at my house without too many distractions. I used to look for a Super Bowl party or even host one myself, but those days are long since past. I enjoy watching the game, and yes the commercials, in an atmosphere where I can pay attention to what's going on rather than hear everyu armcgair QB in the house railing about the officiating or how stupid "that commercial" was.

Yesterday was a nice relaxing, noshing day at our house. Tanya and I watched the game with intensity. We decided we were Giants fans for the day and really pulled for Eli and Co. to pull out what was a great game. We had beanie-weenies, meatballs and buffalo wings. Ritz crackers and cheese in a can and the soft drink of my choice or water for Tanya. It really was a lot for Tanya even though before meeting me she wasn't really a big football fan, what choice does she have now? She was really getting into it, I think she liked Eli, ha!

For us the Super Bowl was a little anti-climactic after a great high school boys basketball game at Montevideo. This has been a great rivalry for years and Saturday night's game was no different with the ThunderHawks coming out on top 69-64. We headed down to Monte early and had dinner with Q102 morning man Tim Burns and his lovely wife Londa. Plenty of Cardinal fans did the same thing as quite a large group attended the game.

I travel to all kinds of games during the season and no town travels to support their clubs better than Willmar, a sea of red on one side of the court. They were into it that's for sure. Monte controlled play early but the Cardinals exploded in the second half and it was back and forth from there. 15 lead changes with 12 in the second half made for a taut thriller. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better value for your entertainment dollar than a good high school hoops game.

Exciting, indeed
It was an exciting game indeed. And nice to enjoy dinner out with you, Tanya, and Kenny. I only wish I had wagered you broadcasting in drag again! :)

Willmar Fans
I agree about Willmar fans Todd. At swim meets the Willmar fans will quite often equal or outnumber the home team's fans. I love how this town supports it's kids!
