(Minneapolis, MN) -- 6-19-13-- Ryan Doumit delivered a go-ahead two-out, two-run
double in the eighth inning to help the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago
White Sox, 7-5, in the opener of a three-game set at Target Field. After
Clete Thomas drew a walk and Joe Mauer singled, Doumit doubled to center off

Heat even Finals with OT win over Spurs


(Miami, FL) -- 6-19-13-- LeBron James posted 32 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to help the Heat defeat the Spurs 103-100 in overtime of Game Six in the NBA Finals from Miami. Lynx host Mercury tonight


(Phoenix, AZ) -- Less than two weeks ago the Minnesota Lynx handed the
Phoenix Mercury a 99-79 loss at the Target Center. Tonight, this time in
Phoenix, the Lynx will try and do it again in a match up featuring two of
the highest scoring teams in the WNBA. In the first match up on June 6th,

Wild sign Scandella to extension


(St. Paul, MN) -- 6-18-13-- The Minnesota Wild re-signed defenseman Marco Scandella
to a two-year contract Monday. Financial terms were not revealed. The
23-year-old blueliner spent most of the season playing for the Wild's AHL
affiliate, the Houston Aeros. In 45 games, he had two goals and 15 assists.
Scandella played in six games for the Wild this season, recording one goal.

Twins rally in eighth to beat Phils


(Minneapolis, MN) -- 6-13-13-- Minnesota's Clete (CLEET) Thomas doubled in the tying
run in the eighth inning and then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch as
the Twins topped the Phillies 4-3 at Target Field. Thomas finished 4-for-4
with two RBI and Oswaldo Arcia was 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the

(Minneapolis, MN) -- Minnesota's Justin Morneau was 3-for-4 with two RBI
to lead the Twins in a 3-2 victory over the Phillies at Target Field last
night. Morneau ripped a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth for Minnesota,
which had lost four of its previous five. Oswaldo Arcia also poked an RBI

Whalen leads Lynx to win over Silver Stars

and six assists as the Minnesota Lynx cruised past the San Antonio Silver

Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 tonight


(Chicago, IL) -- 6-12-13-- The Bruins and Blackhawks begin the Stanley Cup Final
tonight in Chicago. It's the first meeting of the year between these teams
and the first Final between Original Six franchises since the Canadiens beat
the Rangers in 1979. It's also just the seventh time Boston and Chicago

Team USA beats Panama in World Cup qualifier


(Seattle, WA) -- 6-12-13-- The U.S. Men's National Team was sparkling in a 2-0
victory over Panama in a World Cup Qualifying match last night in Seattle.
Jozy Altidore and Eddie Johnson each scored for the Americans, who move into
first place in the CONCACAF qualifying standings with ten points. Team

Twins host Revere and the Phils this week

on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Hicks suffered
the injury in the fifth inning of Sunday's loss to Washington. The

(Willmar, MN)-- 6-11-13-- The Stingers offense reached its apex in a 13-5 rout of the lowly Alexandria Blue Anchors (2-9). Led by outfielders Colton Bottomley (Florida Gulf Coast) and Logan Moon (Central Arkansas), Willmar (8-4) notched a season high in both runs and hits with 13 and 14 respectively. as Miami rolled to a 103-84 win over the Spurs in Game Two of the NBA
Finals. The victory evens the best-of-seven series up at one game apiece.

Nadal wins 8th French Open


(Paris, France) -- 6-10-13-- Rafael Nadal is the French Open champion for the eighth
time. Nadal defeated fellow Spaniard David Ferrer on Sunday, 6-3, 6-2, 6-3
to take the men's singles title. The 27-year-old is the only man to win
eight titles at any Grand Slam tournament and is 59-and-1 all-time at Roland

(Willmar, MN)-- 6-7-13-- The Border Cats of Thunder Bay were held in check for most of the game, but the two innings when they did score, they scored big. A five-run 4th inning gave the visitors all the runs they needed to pull off a series split. Royals beat up Twins bullpen in 7-3 win

four-run eighth inning with a two-run homer, as the Royals rallied to beat

Twins take Texas schoolboy pitcher with 4th overall pick

Houston with the fourth-overall pick in the 2013 MLB First Year Player Draft

T-Wolves Waive Brandon Roy

Big changes in section, class for two Cardinal teams

Twins Hold First Full-Squad Workout

Report: NHL Makes New Offer To Players Union

Span traded to the Nationals for pitching prospect


 The Minnesota Twins got a top pitching prospect in
exchange for a man who has roamed their outfield over past few years. The
Washington Nationals sent over 22-year-old righthander Alex Meyer, a
six-foot-nine pitcher who came out of last year's draft. In the trade,
Denard Span heads to the National League. Span played five years in

Wild staff facing pay cuts

have their hours and wages cut if the N-H-L lockout continues. The team
confirmed that the staff could be put on a four-day, 32-hour work week if

(Minneapolis, MN) -- Coach Jerry Kill is recovering from a seizure he suffered during half-time of yesterday's Gopher loss to Michigan State. Kill was stricken with the seizure in the locker room as his team took the field for the third quarter. Kill has had seizures twice before on Gopher game days. He is expected back to work on Monday.

 

Gophers Football Falls to MSU



(Minneapolis, MN) -- Minnesota was beaten in its regular-season finale by Michigan State yesterday, 26-10. The Gophers turned the ball over four times and managed just 96 offensive yards, four of which came on the ground. The lone touchdown came when Aaron Hill returned an interception 33 yards for a score. The Gophers finished the season 6-and-6 and now await a possible bowl berth.

Warriots Outpace Timberwolves



(Oakland, CA) -- Klay Thompson had 24 points to lead the Warriors in a 96-85 win over the Timberwolves. Nikola Pekovic had 17 points to lead Minnesota. Kevin Love added 15 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. The Wolves have lost five straight to fall to 5-and-7. The Wolves take on the Kings in Sacramento Tuesday.

Wolves Burned by Portland


(Portland, OR) -- Wesley Matthews had 30 points to power the Trail Blazers in a 103-95 win over the Timberwolves Friday. Kevin Love scored 24 points with 13 rebounds while Nikola Pekovic added 18 points and 10 boards for Minnesota. Luke Ridnour poured in 14 points for the Wolves, who have lost four straight to fall to 5-and-6. The Wolves are in Oakland tonight to face the Warriors.

Vikings Trade for CB Jefferson


(Eden Prairie, MN) -- The Minnesota Vikings acquired cornerback A.J. Jefferson from the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday in exchange for undisclosed, conditional draft picks in 2013. Jefferson started seven of the 16 games he played last season, finishing with a career-high 67 tackles and one interception. He originally signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2010.

Vikings Finalize 53-Man Roster


(Minneapolis, MN) -- Veteran quarterback Sage Rosenfels and cornerback Chris Carr were among 20 players cut loose by the Minnesota Vikings Friday. The 34-year-old Rosenfels hasn't appeared in an NFL game since making five starts with Houston in 2008. Carr signed a one-year deal with the Vikings during the offseason after spending the past three years with Baltimore.

Vikings Practice in One Week
