(St. Paul, MN) -- Republicans are blasting Democrats for the new state budget taking effect today (Mon) which includes tax increases. Senate Minority Leader David Hann (HAN) points to the steadily-improving Minnesota economy under the budget Republicans passed two years ago -- but says Democrats are choosing another path which will put more burdens on the economy. Hann warns tax increases will hit every person in the state. D-F-L House Speaker Paul Thissen calls Republicans' comments "Chicken Little predictions of economic gloom and doom." Democrats point to what tax increases will pay for: all-day kindergarten, a college tuition freeze, property tax relief and business incentives.
