Religious/Secular Groups Condemn Bachmann Allegations
7-27-12 (Washington, DC) -- More than 40 religious and secular organizations are condemning the Muslim Brotherhood allegations made by Minnesota's Michele Bachmann and four G-O-P House members. Bachmann and her colleagues called for an investigation into the Muslim Brotherhood's influence on U-S government officials including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top aide. The 42 organizations wrote Thursday, "Your actions have serious implications for religious freedom and the health of our democracy." The U-S Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Inferfaith Alliance, American Baptist Churches U-S-A and A-C-L-U were among the groups that signed the letter. Bachmann has said her concerns about Muslim influence on government agencies have been distorted.
