-- 2012 was a bad year for poachers in Minnesota. The DNR's Roger Tietz says calls to the Turn In Poachers (TIP) hotline jumped 54 percent in 2012 and led to 359 arrests. Tietz says poaching penalties are substantial: loss of hunting privileges and firearms, and even potential loss of vehicles. He says for flagrant violations, penalties are even higher. Tietz says arrests last year were a 29 percent increase over 2011. The record high was 428 arrests in 1991.
