01/31/2012-- I had to get up early and watch the finals of the Australian Open on Sunday morning. While I thought the tennis couldn't be any better than when Roger Federer was at the peak of his powers, Novak Djokovic can bring it. I've always enjoyed watching the show that is Rafa Nadal too. While Roger was so poetic with his movements and artistic with his shots, Djokovic is just a beast. Nearly six hours after the tennis began it finally ended with Djokovic beating Nadal for the 7th time in a row, all in Finals. You get old in tennis faster than any other sport, if you're 30 you're on the way out and most likely won't win any more Grand Slam events.
Michael Beasley must have been listening to all the chatter in the media about the Wolves being better without him in the lineup. He was missing time with a sore foot and the Wolves continued to play well and were better defensively. The talk began about what can we get for Beasley? Looks like he didn't care for that too much because he has been huge the last two games, one a loss to the Lakers but the 34 points off the bench in the win at Houston says "I'm not going anywhere!"
Cardinal hockey tonight with Mike Reynolds and Todd Mattison. I'll be in Fergus Falls on Thursday night for the Cardinal boys hoops team, they are in first place in the Central Lakes Conference. Girls B-Ball on Friday night at Sartell and the boys again in Montevideo for what's become a great non-conference matchup on Saturday night.
The Super Bowl on Sunday, I'll have my prediction on Friday.
