(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota Republicans accuse Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie of using a state-funded voter-assistance website to help defeat the photo-ID constitutional amendment. The website has a link to a brief prepared by Ritchie's office entitled "Why Proposed Amendment Would End Same-Day Registration." State G-O-P Chairman Pat Shortridge calls it "incredible abuse of taxpayer money" and adds Ritchie has to decide "whether he wants to be the non-partisan secretary of state or whether he wants to be a raw partisan." Ritchie responds he's taking steps so that voters can find out what's actually being proposed to go into their Constitution. Voter photo-ID backers say they're researching legal options.
