1-21-11 Abortion chamber of horrors
Saturday is the 38th anniversary of Roe Versus Wade, the federal court case that led to legalized abortion, and I find something curious when it comes to media coverage of abortion stories. Whenever there's a case of an abortion doctor who is killed or threatened by anti-abortion forces, it gets front page and lead story coverage. However, on Thursday, I found a sickening story buried on page A9 of the West Central Tribune...(I've heard no coverage of this story on radio or on t.v.) In Philadelphia, Dr. Kermit Gosnell was charged with 8 counts of murder for accidently killing a patient he was performing an abortion on, and for killing 8 full or nearly-full term babies after removing them from their mothers.
Gosnell ran a clinic, peforming after-hour abortions for teens and women in their 6th, 7th and 8th month of pregnancies. Court records and witness statements say Gosnell killed the babies by cutting their spines at the base of the skull with a scissors. Prosecutors say he had been running the clinic for 30 years and made millions. An inspection of his office turned up bags and bottles filled with aborted fetuses scattered throughout, and shelves lined with jars containing severed feet "for no medical purposes."
I wonder if anyone will defend Gosnell, saying abortion is legal, and blame "right wing Christian nuts" for "forcing poor Dr. Gosnell" into running a clandestine clinic. I would call Gosnell a mass murderer, but not that same as psychos as Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer, who knew what they were doing was illegal, but more like Hitler or Stalin, who would try and justify the millions they killed as being morally necesary to keep the peace or build a better race.
