The Barn Theatre Fundraiser was a great success on Saturday night. We held it at the Barn itself and there was a very good crowd and everyone had a fun time. We had a raffle with the top prize being a three day, four night trip for two to New York City to see Broadway plays, take a food tour and enjoy $700 in spending money. I was very pleased to draw the name of Jordan Dettman as the top prize winner. Jordan is a single, 25-year-old old college student who works part-time at UPS in Willmar. I got to know Jordan when we acted together in the play "All My Sons" at Ridgewater College this spring. He's a fun-loving kid with a good sense of humour and a big smile. He moved to Willmar a couple years ago from Winona and is attending Ridgewater College. Jordan works hard, has volunteered at the Barn, and chances are he probably couldn't have even thought about going to New York City at this point in his life. In fact, paying for the $50 raffle ticket was a big sacrifice for him. Now his biggest problem will be figuring out who take with him to New York! Congratulations, Jordan.
